Under Construction. (I always wanted to write that!)
Dan Chichester began his career performing super-heroics, bringing masked adventurers to life for most of the top names in comic book publishing, including DC, Dark Horse, Acclaim and Milestone. While an editor at Marvel Comics’ Epic division, he played a key role in establishing that line's reputation for artistic diversity and high production values, setting numerous precedents for modern comics. As a writer and editor, Dan spun thrilling tales featuring the likes of Daredevil, Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Disney’s Hercules and Clive Barker’s Hellraiser. Dan expanded and created dozens of successful narratives and intellectual properties across the field.
Catching the digital bug early on, Dan turned his energies toward producing interactive storytelling strategies and content for video game titles, such as Legacy of Kain for the Sony Playstation. As an educator, he taught Web design and animation at Marist College. And in combining games and education, Dan acted as a long time consultant to Classroom, Inc., co-authoring educational software simulations aimed at inner-city middle and high school students.
Arriving at Ogilvy in the late nineties as an Associate Creative Director, Dan was instrumental in building the Web and rich media identity for IBM’s Systems Technology Group. Award-winning Web sites, banners, games and groundbreaking 3D worlds soon followed. As a Creative Director, Dan spearheaded the creative concepting for Time Warner Cable’s new corporate and regional Web sites; helped Siemens explore new Web 2.0 strategies; and led the online effort for WelcomeBackVets.org, the initiative to help returning Iraqi veterans readjust to home life.
As Ogilvy Healthworld’s Digital Group Creative Director, Dan has guided the development of physician resources such as MirapexConnect.com for Boehringer Ingelheim; 360 campaign destinations like Natrelle.com for Allergan; new consumer segmentation opportunities with CONCERTA.net for McNeil Pediatrics; and shepherded the evolution of the multi-award winning Knowmenopause.com for Wyeth. He works extensively with clients to identify the benefits of forward-thinking digital innovations, such as virtual events for HCPs and pharma sales teams. A graduate of New York University’s film school, Dan is a Connecticut native. He now lives and plays there with his wife and son, while also experimenting with moviemaking, animation and Legos.
